I have recently made it my mission to read as many Aussie authors as possible and why not start with some who I follow on social media? I first followed @_sklevy because I liked her pictures. I later realised she had a book, Reigntime, which was also set in Australia. It took me a while to get a copy, but thanks to an amazing friend I got my copy about two months ago and have since read and loved it.
Author: S.K. Levy
Genre: Fantasy – Romance – Adventure
Age Classification: Young Adult
Publisher: Australian eBook Publisher
Release: July 15, 2016
The story follows Lexie, a young nursing student on placement, who gets stuck with a sucky supervisor and a mysterious patient.
Spoiler! The mysterious patient is Myall who turns out to be, another spoiler, a reigntime. What does that mean? Read to find out, because it is actually really interesting!
Lexie helps Myall and together they go on a trip around the north of Australia. There is adventure, some danger and a hint of magic which made for an interesting story. There was also back story and reigntime history lessons that worked into the main plot really well without taking away from the ‘current’ events.
Language was an interesting one in this book as there were many new words to learn. Although it was sometimes confusing, it is only because the words were new and they became clearer as the story went on. Failing that, there was a glossary at the back of the book! Super helpful.
The book was well written and it is clear a lot of time and effort went into the planning and writing of this book. The storyline is intriguing and I cannot wait to read where Sam takes the story in the second book, Starlit, which will hopefully grace my bookshelves in the new year.
Star Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
I am giving this one a 5 because there is no reason not to! It’s set in Australia, written by an awesome Aussie and was an amazing story. I loved it!
