Goals and TBRs

2019 Goals – First Check-In

It has been just over 3 months since we welcomed in the new year, so it is about time to revisit the goals I set myself for 2019 and see how I am doing!

  • Read 50 books.
I have read 10! I had hoped to be a little further along but school, work and life have not been as easy to juggle as I had anticipated… More on that further down.
  • Write a book!
I was going great and ready to write, even signed myself up for the April Camp NaNoWriMo, but I forgot to consider how busy I would be. Still, I have written a little and I am hoping that the next Camp NaNoWriMo in July is more successful as I won’t have to juggle university that month.
  • Keep up with my blog.
Sort of. I have tried to post at least twice a week, but my lack of reading means there has not been as many reviews and Merch Monday has been pretty quiet because…
  • Not go crazy on merch.
I have been successful with this goal! I have only ordered a few candles from the Potions Master (Potions Candle Co) and I took part in her Kickstarter, but other than that I have been a very good girl.
  • Save money.
So, ah, this was going well… and then my car died. I mean, I knew it was coming because it was an old car that had not been looked after as well as it could have been and I had been planning on updating it this year anyway BUT IT DIED ON ME! So, I was forced into buying a new (to me) car and now I may be in a little debt, but I have a pretty car in a gorgeous colour that I absolutely adore driving!
  • Explore somewhere new.
In the works. I have done a few day trips to places I have not been to in many years, but have not gone anywhere completely new yet.
  • Finish my University degree!
I am half way through my second last unit so I am getting there
  • Enjoy more “me time”.
I have neglected this one a little but I am starting to change that. I have set up a reading nook in my room and in the last week or so I have been forcing myself to sit and read for at least half an hour every day. This goal will be much easier when I am on break from university during the winter, but for now I am making do with the little “me time” I can get.
  • Improve my health.
Eh, this has not been as easy as I had hoped. A few negatives popped up in my life making the mental health side of this goal more of a challenge and, as those struggling with anxiety and/or depression will know, that makes everything else (even reading) seem so much more difficult. I am hoping this one improves in the near future.
  • Be open to opportunities.
I think I am doing okay at this one, but nothing fantastic has come from those yet so we will have to wait and see.
  • Be happy.
As you might have gathered from the above, not doing overly well at this. However, there have been some pockets of happy that have certainly put a smile on my face. I hope there are more of those moments and less of the negatives in my future.

So a bit of a mixed bag, but we are only a quarter of the way through! There is still plenty of time for me to improve upon the few goals that are currently lacking.

Tell me how you are going your goals!
Have you completed any yet?
Are there any you are struggling with?
Let me know in the comments!

Keep working towards those 2019 goals bibliophiles!
